This thematic school focuses on a class of nonlinear partial differential equations, namely conservation laws. They are considered to be fundamental laws of nature, with broad application in physics, as well as in other fields such as chemistry, biology, geology, and engineering. It will be primarily aimed at M2 students, PhD students, as well as post-doctoral researchers, but also at more experienced researchers. We will host four speakers:

  • Giuseppe Maria Coclite (Polytechnic University of Bari),
  • Andrea Corli (University of Ferrara),
  • Cyril Imbert (ENS-PSL),
  • Massimiliano Daniele Rosini (UMCS in Poland and University of Chieti-Pescara in Italy).

They will each give lectures, approximately 3 hours long, on the following topics:

  • compensated compactness for conservation laws,
  • traveling wave solutions for parabolic approximations with degenerate diffusions.
  • discontinuous Hamilton-Jacobi equations, and
  • the micro-macro limit transitions.

The financial support is provided by Fédération Bourgogne Franche-Comté Mathématiques and EIPHI Graduate School.

The school will take place at the Laboratory of Mathematics of Besançon. Address: Université Marie et Louis Pasteur, CNRS, LmB (UMR 6623), F-25000 Besançon, France. More information at https://lmb.univ-fcomte.fr/access/.

How to follow the school via visioconference? The procedure to follow will be detailed later. Beforehand, please contact us.

Welcome in advance in Besançon,
